The Solar-Bus, fueled by canola oil and solar panels, is bringing 15 volunteer-Shredders to Bonaroo. Thanks to corporate sponsors Seventh Generation and Green Mountain Coffee Roasters and organizational support by Yestermorrow Design/Build School as well as the Bonaroo organization itself, some major carbon will be shred this year during and after the festival.
Our goal is to get 80,000 attendees of Bonaroo to take the Low Carbon Diet and reduce their annual C02 footprint by 10%, roughly 5,000 pounds on average, by the 2009 Bonaroo.
We hope to get at least 10,000 people into the online carbon tracker as "Bonaroo Carbon Shredders" so we can stay in touch with the group and track progress over time.
We have two booth-areas where we are handing out goodies and collecting information: The Green Pod, and Planet Roo. The booths will be staffed by volunteers with laptops who will be collecting basic household data, zip code and email addresses of as many people as humanly possible. The information will take about 5 minutes to collect from each person.
The first 5,000 people who get into the tracker get a free roll of Seventh Generation Recycled Toilet Tissue and a free pack of Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Fair Trade Organic House Blend.
An automatic data-base tracking system known as Do Your Part will be able to show the results of the combined effort over time.
