Carbon Shredders At Bonaroo

The Solar-Bus, fueled by canola oil and solar panels, is bringing 15 volunteer-Shredders to Bonaroo. Thanks to corporate sponsors Seventh Generation and Green Mountain Coffee Roasters and organizational support by Yestermorrow Design/Build School as well as the Bonaroo organization itself, some major carbon will be shred this year during and after the festival.

Our goal is to get 80,000 attendees of Bonaroo to take the Low Carbon Diet and reduce their annual C02 footprint by 10%, roughly 5,000 pounds on average, by the 2009 Bonaroo.

The Energy Optimist: If I Were King of Vermontopia

Vermont can become energy and food independent. We have plenty of wind, solar, biomass, and hydro-power resource-potential to meet our needs. We have plenty of agricultural and water resources. We have plenty of smart and motivated people. What's missing? The problem is that most of us are too busy paying the bills to create real political action and the people in charge of course want to preserve the status quo that put them in charge.

Notes from the Valley - Doug Bergstein's thoughts

Let’s Shred Some Carbon

I was at Town Meeting in early March when a few people got up to talk about a new organization in town, The Carbon Shredders. They proceeded to talk about small groups of people getting together to discuss how to reduce their carbon footprint on this planet. One of the presenters is currently a teacher at the Warren School and my head began filling with ideas about how exciting this could be with a group of students. I grabbed a few of the books and began thumbing through to see what they had to say.
